To celebrate 60 years of communism (People’s Republic of China), the owners of the empire state building in New York city lit up the building in red and yellow.

Changing the lights for various reasons is not uncommon for the Empire State Building; however the reasons are normally far less controversial.

Luckily politicians on both sides of the isle united in their dissatisfaction with the move by the building owners.

But what are they really honoring?

“Historians of the revolution noted the unimaginable — and often forgotten — toll of the revolution and China’s communist rule, which has taken tens of millions of lives through years of war, famine, reeducation and wholesale slaughter.” -Foxnews.com

The Great Leap Forward, which resulted in an estimated 36 million deaths.

China’s Hukou system is often described as an apartheid system

Freedom of speech and other basic freedoms are very limited, as censorship by the government is common practice.

Urban families are restricted from having more than one child, with fines and other forms of punishment.

Having an official state religion of atheism, China suppresses religious freedom.

And yet, an American icon, the now tallest building in New York after the twin towers fell on September 11th, 2001, honors this country, one that in my opinion couldn’t be more anti-American.

WHERE IS THE MEDIA OUTRAGE…LET ALONE COVERAGE??

The Empire State Building reps told City Room, that it “doesn’t discuss the intricacies of the lighting approval process.” Obviously the media took this to heart and let it be. Luckily some of us don’t care what they think you should know about.

On my drive into work this morning, I listened to Don Wade and Roma (890 AM WLS) on the radio. On Tuesday morning they usually have the soon-to-be-retired Charlie Gibson who anchors the ABC prime time news program ‘ABC World News Tonight’ on for a short segment. Don Wade asked Charlie a straight forward question about his thoughts about the lack of coverage on the ACORN scandal that has been spreading through independent websites, but is virtually non-existent in the mainstream media television, including ABC. Charlie laughed and said “To be honest, I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
Does this trouble you at all?
UNTOLD STORY #1: ACORN SCANDAL
If you’re unfamiliar with the scandal, a group of young conservatives from the website biggovernment.com went to multiple ACORN facilities to try to find ways to evade taxes and the IRS while running a brothel with underage immigrants (13 years old!), and the shocking thing is that the ACORN employees were told very clearly that was their intention and tried to find ways to help them along in their illegal and immoral efforts! I URGE you to read the story and watch the undercover videos HERE. This was at 3 different ACORN locations throughout the country.

According to wikipedia.org, ACORN is “a community-based organization in the USA that advocates for low- and moderate-income families by working on neighborhood safety, voter registration, health care, affordable housing, and other social issues”.

ACORN is also ACTIVELY involved with voter registration, and the site Rotton ACORN shows how there are currently 14 states where voter registration fraud complaints have been filed. But you won’t find any coverage from the mainstream media on this either. There has been NOTHING since November 2008, BEFORE the last election was held. Complaints include outrageous items like voter registration forms for ‘Mickey Mouse’ and ‘Donald Duck’.

Why is this newsworthy?
Aside from some obvious reasons addressed above, according to the Washington Examiner, the group has received $53 million in FEDERAL money since 1994, and was eligible for up to $8 Billion more, yes BILLION, of OUR MONEY. Luckily, the senate passed a bill yesterday barring future government funds from going to ACORN by a vote of 83-7.

The Census Bureau has also cut ties to ACORN for the 2010 census, which is very good news, but again isn’t something you will hear much, as that would show why the bureau felt it necessary to separate itself from ACORN.

UNTOLD STORY #2: The Green Czar
This story was blatantly ignored by the mainstream media until the issue was resolved. President Obama’s ‘Green Czar’ choice Van Jones has ties to radical groups such as a 9-11 conspiracy group that believe the government was involved with the terrorist attacks on that fateful day. There are many more things that this Czar candidate did that are worth looking at, but again this ultimately was ignored by the mainstream media until Van Jones resigned last Saturday. It is interesting how these czars are not subject to any type of vetting process like actual elected officials.

Why is this newsworthy?
When an administration consistently chooses individuals of questionable character to spearhead important national issues, you can’t help but question their judgement and character as well. This story speaks to a need for reform in how the Czars are appointed. Perhaps they should be reviewed by a panel and confirmed. Due to the lack of initial coverage, it highlights the media’s desire to protect their party at the expense of keeping the American people informed. My guess is we would be shocked to find how many czars would actually never get to their position of power if there was a real vetting process for them.

UNTOLD STORY #3: March on Washington

Lastly, the ‘March on Washington’, which did receive a little coverage from the mainstream media this weekend was more of a side story, and extremely downplayed from the significance of the event.
Why is this newsworthy?
Aside from being the climatic conclusion of the nationwide tea-party tour of the United States, it also showed a strong unity of Americans who were protesting the exorbitant spending by the current congress and administration in Washington, among other things. It was also the largest demonstration against the Obama administration to date. Demonstrations of this size for other causes generally receive much more press.

Independent research is the only way to uncover the truth.
It is so important to keep your eyes open to stories that aren’t being told by the mainstream media, and these latest attempts to hide very important stories are evidence enough for you to look elsewhere for your information on matters that should concern you. Utilize all forms of communication, not just one TV broadcast, or one newspaper, or even just one radio station or internet site. Triangulate your information. Check facts. Everyone has an agenda and bias, but everyone’s agenda is not the same, and the only way to unearth the truth is by doing the research yourself.

“Un-American”. That is what the town hall protesters are being labeled by the democratic leaders in congress, more specifically Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the house. A direct quote from Pelosi and majority leader Steny Hoyer from an opinion piece in USA Today:

“We believe it is healthy for such a historic effort to be subject to so much scrutiny and debate.” “However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue,” the two leaders wrote. “These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

Interesting how they’re so upset and can challenge the patriotism of opponents of the health care reform bill, when not long ago Nancy Pelosi was encouraging ‘disruptions‘ from anti-war protesters. I strongly encourage you to watch the entire video for blatant hypocrisy.

Steny Hoyer also seems to be flip-flopping rather quickly. The Group ‘HCAN’ or Health Care for America Now has put out a memo to it’s members to counter the protesters. This 4 page document outlines the strategy to disrupt protesters of the health care reform bill, and encourages it’s members to “Interrupt them when they get disruptive”, and “Do not debate on their ‘policy’ points…” “respond with our message and at every turn refocus the agenda…”. It also includes this statement: “Be more visible than the other side. Bring more signs and leaflets, and whenever possible, post your signs all over the place so that you visually out-perform the other side.”, however on page 4 when the memo talks about organizing events with congress it also tells its members to take down anything that is opposing their views: “Collect signs and leaflets that are not provided by you or your organization.”

How does this have to do with Hoyer? On HCAN’s own website, Hoyer is listed as a supporter.

Politicians are quick to denounce you if you aren’t on their side, but quick to embrace you if you are protesting something they’re against, and these 2 congressional leaders are no exception. If you have something to say about the future of the health care reform, please do not be intimidated by the smears of the left questioning your patriotism or right to speak out, after all your representative at the town hall meeting works for YOU.

But again, this information won’t get to you by way of the mainstream media.

I would like to open up a discussion of the former governor of Alaska and former vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin.

I’m going to focus primarily on the negative media, but I could do another entire post about all the things Sarah Palin has done right and encourage everyone to look up what she has done for the state of Alaska and for our country.

I want to know why so many people in our country don’t like her, and if it is truly their opinion of Sarah Palin, or if they are simply regurgitating sound bites from the smear campaign presented by popular media. I’ve asked around and searched online for hard line reasons to dislike Sarah Palin. She has a strong stance on some controversial issues regarding values. If your opinion differs from her on these issues that is one thing, but in doing research and listening to the passion in the voices of so many people I also found out that what is being repeated may not be very true at all…

Now, onto the most common reasons that I’ve heard why Sarah Palin is unfit for office (from Republicans, Democrats, liberals and conservatives):

She doesn’t have experience

She was governor of a state for about 2 years, just under the amount of time now-president Barack Obama was a US Senator when she was selected as the VP candidate under John McCain. Also, being the governor of a state quickly throws you into the executive role. President Obama had no executive experience at the time. In 2007 her approval ratings were in the 90% range in Alaska as their governor, and right before she was selected to be the vice presidential candidate for the GOP, they were above 80%. For the roughly 2 years she was in office, she easily topped the charts for governor ratings in the US. Before she was governor she was the mayor of a small town. Which is another criticism that I’m not sure I understand. Then presidential candidate Obama snapped at her for this, which makes little sense to me.

Okay, so we have come to the conclusion that she has more executive experience than the current President, and during her time as governor she enjoyed extremely high approval ratings. Moving on…

Sarah Palin cut spending on special needs children by 62%

When I first saw this I was alarmed, especially after hearing that her youngest child Trig was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. This is just a flat out lie. Sarah actually tripled the amount of money per student per year, and much more, never once reducing the spending. Nothing more to say about this really.

She supported the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ before denouncing it

This is the first piece of criticism that I thought I might agree with. The so called ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ was a plan to use federal money to build a bridge to a small population island in Alaska. Then I saw the interview between Sarah Palin and Charlie Gibson of ABC News. She talks about the embarrassing earmarks on bills that spend federally funded money for projects that are illogical, and she says how it was a mistake. The same ‘mistake’ that was in the bill that both President Obama and Vice President Biden voted for, which seemed to “slip by” the mainstream media as they criticized her for this.

She is Pro-gun

Sarah Palin has repeatedly stated that she supports the right to bare arms (second amendment). And even though President Obama is okay with local gun laws banning handguns, he also supports the second amendment. While I think it is fine to disagree with someone on gun control, I’m not sure how you can criticize her for agreeing with the second amendment if you support another candidate (Obama) who also supports the second amendment.

She only supports abstinence programs in school

In a C-Span interview in 2006 Mrs. Palin talks about how she is for abstinence to be taught in school, however she is pro-contraceptive, and for talking about preventative ways to lower the teen pregnancy rate. While I hope that our nation can eventually reduce the rate of teen pregnancy, I doubt this will happen the way our country is currently. It is an error to assume that because Sarah Palin supports teaching abstinence in schools to combat teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, that she exclusively supports these methods.

She says crazy things

Remember how Obama traveled to 57 states (Probably not as the mainstream media somehow missed this one…)? Everyone shrugged this statement off, acknowledging that he is only human. Well, surprise, so is Sarah Palin. When your every word is scrutinized, you’re going to be called out for saying things that are funny or odd, like when Sarah cited the proximity of Alaska to Russia as something that enhanced her foreign policy experience. If we were to dismiss the credibility of a politician for occasionally making errors, we would have no one in office. Of course they all say things that may sound ridiculous at times, and I agree this was ridiculous, but I’m not sure I understand how someone can not support her as a candidate or public official for a blunder. Everyone knows there were many instances of “misspeaking” from both sides (don’t make me post videos about our Vice President Biden or our former presidents (Bush and even the smooth talking Clinton weren’t immune to this!).

So for those of you keeping score, and those who oppose her that consider yourself conservatives or Republicans, she is fiscally responsible, able to admit a mistake, her family values are on the top of her list and she is for gun rights. These alone make me laugh out loud when conservative and republican friends quickly denounce her and then have no ACTUAL reason not to like her.

Sarah Palin isn’t perfect. I don’t agree with her on every issue, and anyone who agrees 100% with any candidate should seriously check to see if their political views are truly their own. What I am upset about is how even the most educated and politically motivated individuals appear to have been sucked into this smear campaign against Sarah Palin regarding issues that just aren’t true. Some criticism is justified, and when your opinion differs from hers it is appropriate to disagree, but many of the criticisms are baseless. I encourage everyone who is so against this woman to sit back and think about why you don’t like her, and then look up the facts. Is the reason really because you don’t like her as a politician and her values, or is it just because you were told you shouldn’t like her? Don’t tell me the media has won you over, too!

An intro to what is to come of future blog posts that will be politically charged and open for debate!

After a long internal debate, I’ve decided to type up some of my ideas about political issues. This blog will primarily focus on current local (Cook, DuPage & other surrounding counties in IL), statewide, national, and world politics.

I hope to inform people about what is truly going on behind the scenes in the political realm. While I don’t claim to have all the answers, I believe that what we’re being told by the administrations that govern our societies and by the mainstream media is not always the truth. This blog will be a platform to share my unique perspective on how political happenings affect someone in my situation.

I am privileged to call myself an American, and it pains me day after day to see the various things that are going on in the political world that the general public never hears about. It is time to take a stand for what is RIGHT.

A brief overview of my situation

I am a 25 year old Technical Trainer for a decorative label printing company located in a suburb of Chicago. I am a conservative, and have been since around the time I was able to vote. I am married to my beautiful and inspiring wife Adrienne, who also has a very interesting blog (much less controversial) located here. I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems (CIS).

I am very much in the minority politically when it comes to my geographic location and age. For one, I am located in the Chicago land area, which is a hub for liberals. Secondly, I don’t have too many conservative friends at my age that have the passion I have for political truth. It is a sad truth that younger generations are much more left leaning than right leaning, and I believe there are many factors that contribute to this, which I intend to spotlight in future posts.

I encourage thoughtful debate here. If you disagree with my articles please feel free to post a reply, but please make it civil. I will not accept anything that is offensive, but I will not filter out anything that contradicts what I say. This is America, the land of the FREE (at least for now ), and we have the right to speak out when we have something to say. To quote Voltaire:

“I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write.”
